[[Decrypted for interest of players, is written on loose-leaf acquired in the town, currently on Ianto's person, and probably decryptable should someone with the right equipment/enough time and interest get their hands on it]] The most recent journey into the Isolate Dimension has resulted in meeting a version of Owen who appears to be suffering the after-effects of at least watching someone tortured, and quite possibly suffered the same. From the rest of conversation, I would gather this is at the hands of the Master in his universe, and would strongly recommend that this is a universe we do not attempt to access through the Isolate, should that be possible. It is intriguing, though, that he was under the impression he was sent here by his captors - I suspect that Captain Harkness is involved, as he expressed a desire to kill him, though he turned down the offer of a weapon with which to do so. It raises the question, that should that be the case, that is it possible the same could be done to allow the Master, my employer, to access the Isolate? I shall continue to explore this possibility, and make a full report when I return. [[END REPORT]] |

He's not Jack. Oh, he's Jack Harkness, yes, but he's not Jack. There's something not right, not the same. There's enough the same that it's... enjoyable, but there's not the same spark, the same warmth and connection that I am accustomed to. It was stupid of me to have let it happen, especially after arguing with Lisa last night about Jack here. I shall submit that as being my reason for doing so, and let it go at that. There is sufficient resemblence in personality with the described personality in the observation file to suggest this to be an accurate correlation. I have included a transcript of our conversation with this report.  Name: Ianto Jones Age: 26 Height: 6ft Point taken from canon timeline, or nature of AU-ness: He's from the "Lieutenant to Chaos" AU, in which the Master and Jack have taken over Torchwood (among other various differences, see this post on my LJ for a better description of the AU). He's the Head Archivist at Torchwood Two, Glasgow, and for him it is 2003. Brief Personality Description: Deliberate, precise, fastidious, with a dry sense of humour, prefers coffee to tea, enjoys scotch, is particular about the Archives, enjoys tweaking the sensibilities of others. Brief History: In 1997, he's hired at Torchwood One as an intern in the R&D division, in particular with the IT department. He continues as part of the staff of IT until 2001, when he's transferred to Torchwood Two in Glasgow, and offered the position of Head Archivist - mostly to oversee the transfer of the older archives to electronic format. He has expanded the role, and often provides support for the research labs at both Torchwood One and Torchwood Two. Update: Upon his most recent return from the nexus, Ianto promptly forgot about the report he'd intended to file, and indeed, all his visits to the nexus. He became concerned when he found reports in the archives he could not remember the contents of - though he could remember filing the reports. He reported his concerns to the Master, and spent several days after meeting with him to see if they could pull up the missing memories with a pounding headache, and newly modified memories. By the time he was back on his feet and back in Glasgow, the relevant archives had been wiped, and the evidence of the tampering cleared from the computers by Emma, at the Master's order. Ianto settled back into his routine, terrorizing interns and dancing around his relationships with Lisa, Jack, and the Master. He'd just finished cleaning up the archive regarding the Doctor's visit in 2007 when he stepped into the kitchenette to make himself coffee, and found himself back in the nexus, memories rearranging themselves in the process.
